Royal Challengers Bangalore Team News & Playing 11

RCB Team News

Heinrich Klaasen replaced Moeen Ali, who has linked up with the England squad, for the game against Delhi Capitals as Royal Challengers Bangalore made three changes. Akshdeep Nath and Tim Southee also missed out, replaced by Shivam Dube and Gurkeerat Singh, as RCB elected to play just three overseas players.

RCB Key Players

Parthiv Patel top-scored last time out with 39 from 20 balls in a useful 63-run opening partnership with Virat Kohli (23) in just 5.5 overs. Patel now has 365 runs for IPL 2019 season.

AB de Villiers remains their top run scorer, however. The big-hitting South African icon has 431 from 11 innings, including five half-centuries. Captain Kohli has 423 from 12 innings, meanwhile, including two half-centuries and one hundred.

Marcus Stoinis has refound some of his BBL form, meanwhile, hitting 46* and 32* in the last two matches.

With the ball, Yuzvendra Chahal’s two wickets last time out moved him to 16 from 12 for the season but he was expensive.

Economy rate has been one of their major flaws this season, with Moeen Ali a big loss in that regard.

RCB Team Form

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s three-match winning streak was ended by Delhi Capitals last time out, as they posted 187/5 and restricted RCB to 171/7 in reply.

It was in stark contrast to them twice passing 200 in their last three games. Against Kings XI Punjab, AB de Villiers led the way with 82 in a total of 202/4 – enough to win by 17 runs. Against Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, Virat Kohli hit a 58-ball century as RCB posted 213/4 and won by ten runs.

In between, Royal Challengers Bangalore won a thriller against Chennai Super Kings – scoring 161/7 before holding on for a one-run win.

RR Team News

With their England internationals away, Liam Livingstone was finally handed his chance in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and his good form at the top of the order helped the Royals chase 161 to win by seven wickets.

Ashton Turner also returned and, after claiming victory, Rajasthan Royals could stick with the same line-up.

RR Key Players

Ajinkya Rahane has followed up his unbeaten century against Delhi Capitals with scores of 34 and 39 in his last two matches to move to 391 runs so far this season. Relishing the freedom of being relieved of captaincy duties, he remains the Royals’ top run scorer.

Now up to second on the list is the man who replaced him as captain, Steve Smith, who has 319 runs from ten innings – a tally which includes two half-centuries so far.

Sanju Samson top-scored last time out with an unbeaten 48, meanwhile – he now has 309 runs in total. Liam Livingstone caught the eye too after being given his chance at the top of the order. Livingstone scored 44 from 26 balls in a 78-run opening partnership.

Shreyas Gopal claimed 2-30 last time out, meanwhile, and was the star man when these teams last met too as he claimed 3-12 from his four overs, which included a maiden. Gopal has 15 wickets for the tournament from his first 12 games.

Varun Aaron, Oshane Thomas and Jaydev Unadkat also claimed two wickets apiece in the win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore do not have the best of records in this fixture but recent good form - though not enough to keep them in play-off contention - means they should be confident of sealing a home win.
