Mithali captained 32 T20 matches


Mithali Raj was the first captain of the India women's team in the T20. The match was played in the 2006 derby. He led India in 32 T20 matches. This includes the T20 Women's World Cup held in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Mithali is the first Indian woman to touch the 2000 figure in T20. He last led the team in 2016.

Mithali-Harmanpreet controversy

Last year, the team management and Harmanpreet decided not to feed Mithali in the semi-final match against England in the T20 World Cup. The Indian team lost that match. There was a lot of controversy about this. Mithali had hit two consecutive half-centuries in the tournament. Nevertheless he was excluded from the playing XI. India later lost that match as well. Mithali also complained to the COA of the then coach Ramesh Powar.As a result, Ramesh Powar's contract was not renewed. WV Raman was replaced as coach.
